Küçükçekmece Lagoon Basin is a unique but unfortunately damaged ecosystem that hosts a rich variety of species of flora and fauna and contains various habitats. It also stands out with its historical, cultural and archaeological heritage dating back hundreds of thousands of years.

It is necessary to develop ecosystem, waste management, urban, rural, transportation, culture, social awareness and education strategies with sustainable and ecological principles, accompanied by multi-disciplinary research and studies for this basin, which has almost disappeared despite its serious potentials. Micro-focused intervention decisions taken with these strategies can be implemented in a phased manner and the basin can be rehabilitated as a socio-ecological system where urban and wild life can coexist in harmony.

The main idea of our project is to rehabilitate the basin with gradual micro-interventions over time by trying to understand the basin instead of changing it with radical decisions, by developing local-cultural values and cultural landscape in the region, by raising the ecological awareness of the public, by creating a spontaneously protected eco-cultural social environment, by reading and mediating the effort of the structural/natural landscape to find itself.
