lake house

LOCATIONVIRGINIA – USA
SIZE690 m²
YEAR2023

The design is built upon a sophisticated relationship with nature and the lake, reflecting this connection in the structure, layout, and atmosphere of the design.

The integration of natural wood and stone materials, coupled with a sophisticated and robust natural landscape, has been meticulously crafted in the design. Expansive windows in the rooms, terraces, verandas, and all other components facing the landscape and the lake further emphasize the harmonious fusion of the design with the surrounding nature and environment.

All rooms are planned to face the lake view. Large windows enable the integration of rooms with the landscape and nature. While all rooms on the basement floor have access to the garden, balconies in each bedroom on the main floor also allow a connection with the outdoor environment and the view.

Rather than designing some bedrooms with low ceilings and a poor atmosphere in the attic of such a large and beautiful house, all bedrooms are designed on the main floor with spacious and high ceilings, allowing for a clear view of landscape. All other common social areas are positioned on the basement floor to establish a strong relationship with the garden and the lake.

The high-ceilinged great room and main entrance are centrally located in the middle of the house.

Upon entering through the main entrance, the spacious great room on the basement floor and the lake view visible from the transparent facade effectively welcome visitors. The staircase here allows for descending to the lower floor while enjoying the view and the spacious great room.

The great room, kitchen, dining area, and living space are designed as an open concept, arranged to establish a strong connection with the landscape.

On the basement floor, the great room, family room, and veranda are adjacent and integrated in a functional and efficient manner, also connected to the garden in the event of a large gathering.

The structural system is conceived as a masonry stone and wood construction system.
