MOUNTAIN HOUSE

LOCATIONCOLORADO – USA
SIZE370 m²
YEAR2022
STATUSCOMPETITION 1 ST PRIZE

Our design provides the modern and rustic effect ; According to criteria such as landscape, sun, wind, noise, functionality, aesthetics and sustainability, it provides the built and natural environment by taking into account the traces and walls of the existing garage.

The total area of the house, excluding the garage, is 3228 sq ft. The garage area is 764 sq ft.

  • Planning

The design is formed by the merging of two masses with common areas and bedrooms. The entrance to the building is made from this junction and horizontal-vertical circulation is provided from here.
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom and a half bedroom downstairs. Family room opens to a large balcony with fireplace. The recreation room and study also open onto a large ground terrace with fireplace. Also the master bedroom has a beautiful balcony with a view.

  • Construction Site and Materials

Masonry stone and wooden frame construction system was preferred. Columns and beams of this construction system show themselves on the interior and exterior walls and roof. The places where the wooden structure is visible on the façade are completed with black aluminum joinery glass and wooden siding. Metal coating is used on the wooden structure on the roof. The floors are considered as wood in the interior of the house, balconies and terraces, and stone in the landscape.

  • Facade Design

Facades with different transparency ratios were designed according to criteria such as the view, sunlight, neighboring parcels, vehicle road noise, and wind.

Since the west facade faces both the view and the garden, it is designed as a completely transparent façade.

Since the south facade faces the view and receives good light, it is designed with a high level of transparency.

The northern facade is relatively less transparent to protect it from the cold effect of the prevailing wind and low light, and the noise effect of the highway.

Since it faces the neighboring building on the east side and there is no view, it was designed as massive.
