OASIS HOTEL AL MADINAH

This project reinterprets Medina’s rich heritage by translating it into a futuristic architectural language, creating a distinctive “oasis” effect within the urban fabric. By blending traditional materials such as stone, wood, and plaster with classical elements like courtyards, arches, and screened balconies, the design presents a modern and innovative face for the city. The architectural composition consists of two primary blocks centered around a courtyard, interconnected by a ground-floor lobby and a rooftop pool terrace. To mitigate the imposing scale of the eight-story structure, the mass is fragmented through rhythmic setbacks and projections, creating a human-scaled sensation of stacked volumes. Local vegetation integrated into these fragmented terraces further enhances the oasis identity while providing natural cooling.

The hotel accommodates 72 units, strategically oriented toward the streets and the central courtyard to secure unobstructed views regardless of future neighboring developments. While the ground floor welcomes guests with a serene pool courtyard and an inviting arcade, the social functions—including the restaurant, spa, and swimming pool—are elevated to the top floors to capitalize on panoramic views and optimal wind conditions. The facade features flexible sun-shading elements that allow users to adjust light quality and privacy, resulting in a dynamic and ever-changing exterior. Blending aesthetic sensitivity with functional efficiency, the project offers a sustainable hospitality experience with a 60-vehicle parking capacity and a layout that honors Medina’s cultural bridge between the past and the future.
